The Ilyushin Il-38 (Russian Ильюшин Ил-38, NATO codename: “May”), is a military maritime patrol and anti submarine derivative of the civilian Ilyushin Il-18. The first flight of the aircraft took place in the year 1967, development began six years earlier. The head developer was Sergey Ilyushin.
