Summer Dress over Leggings: Make your Clothes Work for You

Since my friend offered to take pictures for me in the Marietta square last week, I decided to share one last summer look which I think can work with many fall tunics that you feel are too short. This beautiful green dress has rarely seen the light of day because it is a little bit on the short side and with the off the shoulder sleeves not practical for many occasions. I bought this about 3 years ago at Target because I loved the color and embroidery. It has stayed in my closet for the same reason but I only probably wear it twice a year. I wore it for pictures when pregnant and wore it for a date night. As I was thinking of an outfit to wear for my lunch with my friend at the French bakery, I got the idea to add my white leggings for coverage and a pretty contrast to this dress. Then came my white tassel earrings. Since this dress has no waist, a belt gave it that little extra. We went into a couple of shops and I saw this cute little pair of sandals that were a fun greyish kakhi color with metal cutouts and details: my size and $15 but no, I did not need another pair of sandals so I passed on them. Trying hard to stick to my no shopping goal! I have several little dresses that I use leggings with. If you have a piece that you love because of pattern or cut or color but doesn’t work because of length or bagginess think leggings, belt or layers! You might be able to make it work with a little imagination. Starting next week, I will move on to more fallish outfits with a few transitional outfits mixed in. It is still hot here so hopefully by mid october, we will feel a cool in the air. A bientôt!
